The Oxchair from 1960, padded, covered with oxhide and as strong and distinctive as a bull, but raised off the floor by light but strong legs in chromium-plated steel, is another chair without parentage - and one that has become an image and an archetype. Among the jobs it does, and one that lies close to Wegner's heart, is to make it possible to sit comfortably in many different ways so that one can change position continously. Only then can one sit really comfortably. It is Wegner's own favourite chair at home, in his 100-square-metre living room and clearly a chair that needs space around it.
