THE INTERIORS GROUP FIT OUT STONE HARBOR
The Interiors Group has recently fitted out new offices in a high quality landmark development in Mayfair for Stone Harbor Investment Partners, a global fixed income investment manager. The Interiors Group was chosen by Shiro Muchiri of Interni Design Studio as their partner to create an exciting new office environment for Stone Harbor’s new European headquarters.
After a rapid growth, Stone Harbor decided to relocate to larger premises and take a floor of the landmark corporate head quarters, 48 Dover Street, a stunning office and retail development superbly positioned off Piccadilly in Mayfair.
Shiro Muchiri of Interni stated: “It was a great experience working with The Interiors Group. What set them apart from other contractors we considered was their sensitivity to the design concept and detail which they endeavoured to retain. They understood what we were trying to achieve quite perfectly without too much information from us”.
Stone Harbor’s main investment is in their staff and they were keen therefore to create a healthy working environment. For this reason, noise levels, a comprehensive lighting design and the creation of a gym - were all an important part of the brief. Stone Harbor also wanted to form a corporate identity that reflected their American classic culture.
A specialist lighting designer was briefed to design the lighting system following the strategy which was ‘task lighting’ not just random ambient lighting. The lighting scheme was based on the use of LEDs and fluorescent lamps to create a low energy space. Light fittings were also specified to be in keeping with the overall design theme. Another unusual office lighting element was the backlit Barrisol ceiling which created a stunning skylight effect. The additional benefit of this was it performs well for video.Stone Harbor is a great looking space that is efficient in its energy consumption and comfortable to work in.
As explained by Shiro Muchiri: “We stayed away from white as a colour because we wanted to create a calm environment and white tends to be quite harsh a colour. The cherry wood veneers and mustard colored carpets and fabric walls all reflect the classic feel and culture of Stone Harbor. The door handles which are a combination of cherry wood veneer and satin, were also customized to pick up on the theme… The gym color is a soothing green with soft warm grey perforated leather panels and dark wood.”
The reception area has been fitted out with panelled walls and a bespoke reception desk with complementary neutral stone colour flooring. The meeting rooms vary in their size and design and include privalite curved glass and doors which turns opaque. The bench desking was selected to create 20 metres of seamless working area giving the client maximum flexibility with Mirra chairs selected for comfort and adjustability.
